Azkals will fly to Nepal for AFC 2012

The Philippine Team Azkals is expected to be in Nepal on April Next Year for the 2012 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) cup for which they have high hopes of breaking through the Finals as they are pictured by many teams in Asia today as on of the Powerful Teams today next to the best Asian team which they just fought for the FIFA World Cup - The Kuwait National Football Team.

They lost to those games but they are still the winners in the sense that they gained experience over the mighty Kuwait players. and not only that, they  managed to score a goal against them and made stops and defensive filtration in-spite their international ranking disparity of about 60+. "Its a good preparation for us and a motivation to improve and practise more" said Team Captain Ali Boromeo.

Nepal gained the bid for a right to host over Maldives and Palestine's bid. The tournament is likely to take place at the Dasharath Stadium which is the biggest stadium in Nepal that has a seating capacity of around 5,000 and can hold up to 25,000 spectators.

The teams that will join the Cup with Philippines and Nepal are finalists Palestine, India, Turkmenistan, Maldives, Tajikistan and defending champion North Korea. The Azkals qualified for the Final 8 of the Challenge Cup by beating the Bangladesh Bengal Tigers last March. That's what we have for now and winning in this League will elevate their international rankings. Goodluck and Godbless Philippine Team Azkals!

Green Laser Pointer Attack on Neil Etheridge!

Photo is credited to the owner

In an Interview Last July 27 2011 by the ABS-CBN Sports news team Neil Etheridge confirmed that a Kuwaiti Fan used a laser pointer pointed against him in their first leg in the FIFA World cup Qualifiers in the Kuwaiti's home town. Azkals goalkeeper Etheridge said he was bothered by laser lights pointed at him by unidentified Kuwaiti fans during their first-leg match.

"I told the referee, but that time he didn’t do anything about it; but that’s football," he said. Ladies and gentlemen, its unfair on that point of view because pointing a laser on a player is not just an ordinary thing because doing so is not just a distraction on the players playing the game but is also harmful to the naked eye!.

In the United States there are several federal rules that will punish anyone caught pointing a those tools to an individual. It is criminally aggravating to do so especially if the incident resulted to an accident that will kill lives. Pointing a laser pen to an airplane will cause danger to the pilot, how much more with this that it is just few meters away from Neil! Oh Common! Think of it!

"You can not do anything about it when those things happen in the crowd, and you can't stop the game for it," Etheridge added. But on my personal opinion, I think the referee and some officials can halt someone doing that because it is really harmful. Laser pointers are not just mere toys that we can use to play with but a tool used for various purposes.

Laser beam can pop balloons in a distance, cut and burn plastics, burn matches and when held by an irresponsible user it can blind a person. Lets us be responsible in using these tools.

If only that there are rules in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers that will give the Azkals a rematch because of the Green Laser Pointer attack, well they really deserve to have a rematch. Even if the Team lost to Kuwait I still salute them for there Heart and Dignity in playing Football for our country. I am proud to say that "I support the Philippine Team Azkals!

Azkals Player: Neil Ethridge

Neil Ethridge

Azkals goalkeeper Neil Etheridge has the same passion for football similar to what his countrymen in the Philippines has passion for basketball. Like most Filipinos in England, the Filipino-British player Neil has started his interest in football at an early stage.

"In England football is the best sport no doubt. I started playing football at a very young age ... and I used to play with local teams and I got the Chelsea, at the age of 12 years," said Neil Ethridge to an interview in a local TV News in ABS-CBN

At first, Etheridge considered playing football only as a "game for fun" like what most kids say until they reach 15 - 17. By the time Neil Reached 15 he began to take the game seriously. "It started to be more of a job for me by then" he said.

When he turned 18, he received an invitation to join the national team of the Philippines A.K.A Azkals. After that, like what others have said, the rest became history.

Neil is 21 years old at present and at his age he said that he could not ask for more because playing for his country is the most prestigious to him. At present he is currently a reserve goalkeeper for English Premier League Fulham Football Club.

“My life has adapted and changed because of it in different ways. I’m happy, very happy with how’s it going recently,” said the esteemed Azkals Goal Keeper and Heartthrob Neil Ethridge.

Dan Palami: Azkals will still continue playing in other leagues inspite their failure in the World Cup Qualifiers

In an interview Last night in a Local TV news at Studio 23, Dan Palami and coach Weinz were interviewed by the Host Mr. Anthony Taberna about the plans of the Philippine Team Azkals after failing to Qualify for the World Cup. The Answer is simple: “Yes of course they will play games outside World Cup and Continue giving honor for our country” said Team Manager Dan Palami.

Dan Palami gave the Team support and morale boost that the azkals needed in their games and even during practices for preparation of their games. Although the team lost to a more experienced Kuwait he made his players feel that they are still winners. They lost, but gave the Philippines Honor and Glory as they proved that the Game being dominated by the First World and developed countries can also be played with vigor and pride by a newly developing country.

In their last game against Kuwait the players gave their best but still showed that the other team plays harder and more experienced than them. If we they will rest after that game, they will not become better players, they should continue joining tournaments until they will become used playing together as a team and will become stronger, smarter and faster individually.

The Kuwaiti players were just too fast, too strong and too experienced for the azkals so that game serves as a good experience for the team as they played against a World Cup veteran Kuwait Team. The Azkalz needs more practice, more exposure and more conditioning and strengthening workouts so that they will become stronger every day. It means its not yet over for the team and for the millions of Filipino Fans supporting them because we would still see them play in other tourneys.

Good Luck and GodBless to the Philippine Team azkals and for the unparalleled support of the Filipino Fans. Mabuhay!

Azkals Lost to Kuwait 3-0, But Fans still cheering for them like Winners!

Watch the game here

Our Beloved Philippine Team Azkals lost to their game on Saturday 3-0 against the Kuwait national Football team in spite the fact that there are over 5,000 Filipinos who came to watch and cheer for the young ballers.

Although the Azkals lost to this game, they are still hoping to win against this high caliber team on wednesday on for them to do that, they need to win points ahead the Kuwait Football Team. They Lost the game for so many reasons like not having two of their best players like Ali Boromeo who is a high profiled defender and team captain of the Azkals. Ali failed to play the game last saturday because he has been suspended by the world cup qualifying body, Yet, the team do not consider it an excuse why they lost the game but a challenge to do there best for the team to win even without the service of some players.

"It is a challenge for other players to step up for us to win the next game" said the azkals coach. They are so inspired inspite the defeat because of the thopusands of filipinos who watched them in Kuwait and for the millions watching aroundf the world courtesy of ABS-CBN sports.

Manalo man o matalo suportahan parin natin ang Team Azkals - for they will bring fame and honor to our Country. Team Azkals, We believe!

Azkals suffered 2nd loss against Bahrain

The Philippine team azkals yesterday loss 3-1 in their tune up game against a Bahrain Olympic games Team which makes it acid test for the young team.

In the early part of the game, Azkals showcased their dribling and ball handling skills which made the tune up game so entertaining to watch not until such time that the Bahrain team scored a goal courtesy of Ahmed Juma’a's corner kick.

The Azkals Through Phil Young Husband had an opportunity but failed to make a goal against the defense of Bahrain. Phil had then been down to the field for quite sometime that forced him to rest on the bench. When Phiul came back in the game, it was also the time that Hisham Mansoor made a goal to make the score 2-0.

After those two goals, chieffy caligdong then scored his own version of a goal kick to give azkals a breath. But that is not enough to handle the Olympic team as they scored another goal at the end of the quarter.

Although the team lost agin it is still a good thing that they adjusted fast to the hot weather of the middle east and thus a good thing for them to win against Bahrain.

The next game of the Azkals will take place at Kuwait on July 23.

Azkals lost to Bahrain 2-1

Watch the Game here

Philipine Azkals is now revving up for the next match in their bid to play in the Fifa world cup challenge and one of their preparation for that game against Kuwait is the game against Bahrain Under-23 team last Saturday at the Bahrain National Stadium last Saturday for which they lost 2-1.

Yes they lost 2-1 to an Under-23 team but this team is no slouch - That is not bad for the Philippine team Azkals for they played hard against a team that will be playing in the Olympic Games!

The Bahrain Under-23 team initiated the first offensive highlight of the game as Abdul Wahab Al Malood attacked the Azkals’ defense that lead to a score to the net for their team.

Few minutes after that painful goal by the Bahrain national team, a nerve racking power kick by the Team Azkals Vice captain and air force striker Chiefy Kaligdong made it past the defense of the Bahrain goal keeper. Thanks to chiefy coz it sends a message that the azkals can attack anytime with authority!

At halftime, the score is tied at 1-1 and as soon as the second starts, the Azkals showed tight defense which to avoid another goal from Bahrain but that is still not enough to make them win the game as Sayid Dyiha Saeed fearlessly penetrated azkals goal keeper Eduard Sacapano that gave them the win at 2-1.

In this game, the Azkals learned that they have to improve their defense so that teams with attacking prowess in future games will not be able to do the same thing and playing against the Bahrain nationals will give them a good preparation for this.

This is indeed a good game but not as good if they won the game, yet it is very inspiring according to Philippine azkals Forward Phil YoungHusband saying “Marami salamat sa suporta nyo” thanks to the 4000 Filipinos who came in to watch and support the team.

The next tune up game against bahrain is scheduled on Monday at 7pm in Muharraq Club Stadium before going against Kuwait on the 1st leg of their 2nd round World Cup qualifier. Good luck to the Philippine Team Azkals!
